Plantar fasciitis

Do you experience heel pain or foot discomfort? You could be experiencing plantar fasciitis, the most common cause of heel pain.  Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation and tearing of the fascia, a ligament on the bottom of the foot. It occurs because of irritation to the thick ligamentous connective tissue that runs from the heel bone to the ball of the foot. Pain is usually felt in the back of the foot where the tendon meets the heel area. The heel is a particularly vulnerable area since it absorbs a lot of pressure from walking, running, and standing. Plantar fascitis is caused by abnormal foot mechanics in combination with poor quality shoes and overuse.

If you think you’re experiencing plantar fasciitis,  take note of this. The conservative treatments for plantar fasciitis include resting, icing, stretching, heel lifts, heel cups, weight loss, orthotics and night splints. Also don’t forget to get the best shoes for plantar faciitis for comfort and great support.
