A gold-plated necklace recovered from the Titanic has been stolen from a museum in Denmark. It was reported that the alarm did not sound when the jewelry disappeared Saturday morning.
The necklace belonged to Eleanor Widener, daughter of a Philadelphia streetcar tycoon who survived the Titanic sinking. The Titanic sank in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912, while making its maiden voyage. More than 1,500 passengers and crew perished.
The necklace is believed to be worth some $20,000 but according to the owner of the exhibit he doubted it could be sold because it is known internationally.
